SCHIPPER/ARQUES: The picture of Dorian Gray part II,

The picture of Dorian Gray. part II, " the Soul "

“I knew that I had come face to face with someone whose mere personality was so fascinating that, if I allowed to do so, it would absorb my whole nature, my whole soul, my very art itself".

Summer 2013 is inspired by Oscar Wilde’s ‘Picture of Dorian Grey’ published in 1890.

This second of three collections features the unavoidable patina of the soul as it grows older turning into an uncarriable burden of memories and regrets.

What happens when the soul darkens like a Midwestern sky before a storm?

On the outside one still looks like the perfect paper perfection of a magazine cover, but the obvious difference between an 18 and a 60 year old is experience; decades of memories, love, envy and insecurities. The older the soul grows the more obstructing and darker it gets.
