The golden harvest

The honey gatherers of many tribes follow the paths signposted by the flowers to the most succulent bee-hives. Their life however, is not a bed of roses. The ritual varies slightly from one community to another.

The ceremony starts with an oration followed by prayers, given the perilous nature of the actions about to be undertaken. Following that fires are built at the foot of the cliffs to ward off the bees.

Different techniques such as handcrafted knitwear with mixed fibers are used to create textures, tapestry and basket-weaving techniques are used. Research into fabrics is a key feature of this collection which is inspired by the structure and construction of bee hives. Spring Summer ‘13.
